Difference between Baikal and Baikal-2: The two knives are identical in all aspects apart from the fact that the Baikal-2 has only a short finger guard, hence this knife does not fall under "Kife restriction laws" in Russia and Ukraine. The standard Baikal features a 10mm finger guard and will be the standard stocked item in the Australian and US markets.

Named after one of the largest fresh water lakes on the planet the Baikal is a medium size, super-tough utility knife that can be pushed into service in any kind of situation. Be it simple camp tasks to more serious survival situations or even military tactical use. The blade of the Baikal is of a modern clip-point design, which actually points down from the middle of the knife's spine and yet still have a very sharp point similar to classic clip-points. The top edge of the knife is not sharpened, however its leading edge is merely 0.5 mm thick, giving it an immence piercing ability.

The new river series of Kizlyar knives feature a unique hidden full tang design, whereby the durable Elastron-G handle is molded over the tang pressing the guard firm into place. In order to ensure the handle will not work it sway loose an additional steel pommel is bolted into the bottom of the tang, which acts both as a retainer as well as creating a hard curved surface for breaking glass, ice etc.
